Security Window Bar System

Crime prevention experts agree that when it comes to home security, window security in the form of fitting window bars or grilles, is a practical, low cost way to tackle the burglar. 

Adaptabar - is a versatile, low cost, telescopic window bar, which can be used as part of a simple window security bar system, or quickly and easily formed into a security grille by the addition of Adapta lateral spacer bars.
 
Ideal for D.I.Y or professional installation, Adaptabar offers a practical solution to protecting vulnerable windows where the cost of a made to measure security grille would be prohibitive.

Each telescopic Adaptabar bar set is made up of a solid steel bar section and a robust steel tube section. This versatile modular security grille system is available off the shelf in flat-pack form. You choose exactly what you want - install window bars only, or quickly and easily turn the system into a customised window security grille by adding lateral spacers - practical protection for almost any window or door. 

Adaptabars are available in five standard lengths and with a choice of face (F) or reveal (R) fixings:

The bars offer protection for any window or aperture from 18" to 79" (457 mm - 2,007 mm) in height and of any width. Their adjustability means that even if you get the measurements slightly wrong when you order the bars you should still be able to complete the installation safely and easily (unlike trying to install a fixed grill system that is 2mm too tall for the aperture it was ordered for!)

For maximum protection, security fastenings should be used when installing bars and grilles.

Adaptabar security  window bars are finished in a durable, attractive brilliant white paint, and tube ends are sealed to prevent infestation by insects, spiders, etc.

Lateral spacers are available as an option in order to foil attempts to prize the bars apart and add significantly to the overall grill security for larger apertures. They can be installed as a single strip (as shown) or can be formed into attractive geometric patterns.

How many window bars do you need?

It is easy to work out how many bars you need - simply mark the horizontal centre of the window aperture then mark the sill at appropriate bar centre intervals. 
Note: for Security Applications window bars should be fitted at 5" (125mm) centres (BS8220), whilst 
for Child Safety Applications, building regulations recommend 4" (100mm) between bar centres.

Bars are available with Face or Reveal fixing options as shown and this must be specified at time of order.

A "Face Fixing" is where the bars fix over the face of the aperture as shown above (i.e. to the face of the window frame)

A "Reveal Fixing" is where the bars fix into the aperture as shown above (i.e down into the windowsill and up into the window lintel)
