The 'SlamSide' door restrictor 

This ingenious lightweight plastic device fits to the underside of the door frame and stops doors slamming on tiny fingers.

The unit operates on a similar principle to a seatbelt mechanism. Close the door gently and it allows the door to fully close ... try to slam the door and the mechanism temporarily locks to stop the door closing on vulnerable fingers, etc..
