Using Smoke to protect items within a room or enclosed areaAlthough "Smoke" is a term in common use for this type of product, it is really a misnomer as visibility is impaired by something more akin to fog. Such systems work by rapidly heating an alcohol based fluid (such as a glycol mixture) to a gaseous state which instantly condenses on contact with air in the room thus forming a dense fog which can reduce visibility to just a few inches. Such systems can be very effectively employed to protect offices, warehouses, jewellers, etc., however must be professionally installed.
