Gatehouse / Access Control

Controlling access to the overall estate may not always be a practical option, however where it is feasible it will obviously be an aid to security.

Thieves will be less comfortable about committing a theft if they know that they have been recorded entering the estate and could therefore possibly be identified subsequently.  

If the gatehouse operator is in control of rising bollards or other types of road blocker,  or other physical control mechanisms, it could also prove an effective intercept point on the thieves escape route should the alarm be raised.

Security Lighting

A well lit site with no dark corners to skulk in is not nearly as appealing to the criminal as a poorly lit site offering a wealth of shadows to get lost in.

In addition to conventional lighting, infra-red floodlights are also sometimes used to assist in improving the definition of images received from CCTV cameras.

The shared cost of a multi-camera CCTV surveillance system can bring the cost down to a very affordable level, - but remember for maximum effect the system will need to be continuously monitored and response resources will need consideration.

CCTV Cameras and ancillary equipment is now available at a fraction of the cost it was just a couple of years ago. Whilst sophisticated systems with remotely controlled high definition cameras will still put a significant dent in the security budget, there are a number of truly budget priced systems available which offer an easily affordable and viable alternative for less demanding users / applications.

 Traffic Management Products

such as Traffic Flow Plates restrict traffic flow to a single direction thus forming a one way system and preventing access to the site via unauthorised entrances. Speed bumps (sometimes referred to as  speed restrictors or sleeping policemen) help to curb excessive speeding, whilst strategically positioned bollards, removable (locking) traffic posts, etc. may also have a role to play.

Remotely Controlled Gates, or Rising Barriers or Bollards

these could be operated by a security guard or alternatively by some form of token, tag or electronic key-fob etc. issued to authorised visitors / residents.
