Ready mixed antibacterial sanitizer spray to protect against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) through contact with contaminated surfaces.
The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in huge demand for antiseptic and antibacterial sprays and cleaners, prompting many to research how to make antibacterial spray for themselves. But producing a reliable antibacterial spray that’s genuinely effective in tackling coronavirus is an exact science.
We have worked closely with our partner manufacturers to quickly source the ingredients, raw materials, bottles and dispensers to meet the immediate, urgent need for a reliable, effective anti-coronavirus cleaning spray.
Here at Insight Security we are proud to support our regular customers who include:
In response to their urgent demand for an effective antibacterial surface cleaning spray we have worked closely with our suppliers to produce a reliable, high quality rubbing alcohol in line with government recommendations, suitable for tackling coronavirus (COVID-19).
Isopropyl alcohol (2-propanol), also known as isopropanol or IPA, is the most common and widely used disinfectant within pharmaceutics, hospitals, cleanrooms, and electronics or medical device manufacturing.
Our antibacterial spray is formulated using a precise mix of isopropyl alcohol and deionised water at an exact ratio of 75% : 25%. Higher concentrations of alcohol would be ineffective when applied to a surface as the alcohol would evaporate too quickly and not have enough time to kill any bacteria or viruses that might exist.
The presence of water in the antibacterial spray is a crucial factor in destroying or inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms with isopropyl alcohol. Water acts as a catalyst and plays a key role in denaturing the proteins of vegetative cell membranes. 70% IPA solutions penetrate the cell wall more completely which permeates the entire cell, coagulates all proteins, and therefore the microorganism dies. Extra water content slows evaporation of the alcohol, therefore increasing surface contact time and enhancing effectiveness. Isopropyl alcohol concentrations over 91% coagulate proteins instantly. Consequently, a protective layer is created which protects other proteins from further coagulation.
Research has determined that the novel coronavirus can survive on plastic and stainless steel surfaces for up to two or three days and on cardboard for up to 24 hours. The UK government advises that cleaning an area after someone with suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) has left will reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people.
When cleaning with antibacterial spray it’s important to be highly aware of ‘high touch surfaces’ that require frequent and thorough attention.
In public buildings, hospitals, care homes and commercial premises:
In and around the home:
Our product is designed and formulated for cleaning down surfaces (the most likely point of contact for the spread of the virus) which is why we are supplying it in a convenient trigger spray dispenser (we may also be able to supply it in an aerosol shortly).
