Bird Free Fire Gel - Case Study - Incheon Airport in South Korea

Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea and the primary airport serving the capital city Seoul.

Opened for business in 2001 it is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.

From 2006 to 2008, it was rated the best airport in the world by the Airports Council International

In September 2008, after an initial trial installation, Bird Free Fire Gel was used to drive birds from the cargo quarantine area, where some 600 tubes of Bird Free Gel were successfully deployed

Bird Free Fire Gel, the 3 way Bird Deterrent is solving bird problems at Incheon International Airport

The Problem:

Pigeon droppings were causing discoloration of the paint and corrosion of the I-beams of the airport terminal buildings ...and also causing fouling at some work areas and  public entrances.

The Solution:

As Mr.Oh Kyeong Sun, a manager in charge of the safety and environment of the terminal, observed:

...the pigeon is a symbol of peace but not here. Pigeons living in our workplace were a source of constant stress and kept interrupting security and quarantine of the passenger luggage compartment.

Following the application of Bird Free Fire Gel, we are now free from birds which allows us work faster and more efficiently

Some examples of problem areas          ...before and after the application of Bird Free Fire Gel

...Bird Free Fire Gel is ideal for deterring birds from nesting in overhead areas like this

...at Incheon, heavily soiled beams and pipe work like this were at the root of the problem, indicating where the pigeons were congregating overhead, above work areas and public access routes.

I-Beams make particularly attractive perching and nesting areas, but Bird Free Fire Gel strategically fixed along the favoured perching edges as shown here, has cracked the problem

...the Gel dishes are also used on adjacent ledges

...in lower pressure perching areas such as these external ledges, the Gel dishes can be spaced further apart

...and can be attached to the structure with Silicone adhesive (the most common method), cable ties, magnetic fixings, or special hanging dishes as appropriate

...here the Bird Free Fire Gel dishes are spaced further apart as this is also a low pressure bird area and therefore easier to control
